STEUBENVILLE -- The Diocese of Steubenville and Franciscan University of Steubenville are teaming up to offer Eucharistic adoration beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Open to the public, it will be offered at the university's Finnegan Fieldhouse on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
It's the only designated location in the diocese for Eucharistic adoration.
Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton said he is grateful for "the collaboration" between the diocese and the university, "because the fieldhouse allows the greatest ease for social distancing."
"The Eucharist is a sacrament of love; the Lord welcomes us, as together, we worship him in solidarity and in communion of faith," Monforton said.
The fieldhouse is often used for large liturgical gatherings at the university and can accommodate state of Ohio social distancing guidelines. Chairs will be placed six-feet apart throughout the fieldhouse. There can only be one person per chair, and chairs may not be moved.
They said there is no need to sign up since university officials will make sure at least one adorer is present every hour.
