Due to the precautions being taken surrounding the coronavirus, the following changes have been made regarding events and meetings in the local area:
¯ The Four Seasons Senior Citizens meeting for April has been canceled.
¯ The Jefferson County Safety Council announced that the April and May Safety Council meetings have been canceled.
¯ The Toronto Beautification Committee has canceled its geranium sales.
¯ The 2020 Lou Holtz/Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame banquet and associated events set for June 8 has been postponed. The scholarship application deadline has been extended to Monday, at which time another extension might be considered if warranted.
¯ The annual Steelworkers Memorial service, organized by USW Local 2911 and planned for Tuesday, has been canceled.
¯ All military meetings for the Jefferson County Veterans Association have been canceled until the end of summer. The cancellations include the annual Memorial Day service held at the Friendship Park Memorial Museum, where the World War II equipment is on display.
¯ The Steubenville Rotary Club has suspended its weekly Friday meetings until further notice.
¯ The Steubenville Kiwanis Club has suspended its Tuesday noon luncheon meetings for the remainder of April.
¯ Perpetual adoration in the Portiuncula Chapel on the campus of the Franciscan University of Steubenville has been is suspended, but the chapel will remain open for prayer each day from 5 a.m. to midnight. The monstrance will not be exposed.
¯ Country Friends is canceling all events in April.
¯ The Thursday Toronto Senior Citizens meeting and trips have been canceled.
¯ The regular Friday meetings of the Steubenville Rotary Club have been suspended until further notice.
¯ The Ohio Valley Mopar Club car show set for May 2 at Eastern Gateway Community College has been rescheduled for Sept. 7.
¯ Two Ridges Presbyterian Church, 1085 Canton Road, Wintersville, has extended its closure through May 3.
¯ The Steubenville Art Association's annual spring art show for April has been canceled.
¯ The 26th Annual Harrison Coal and Reclamation Historical Park dinner auction set for May 9 at the Hopedale VFD Social Hall has been postponed until Oct. 24.
¯ The 74th-annual Weirton Steel Corp. 25 Year Club picnic set for July 18 has been canceled.
¯ Adult education classes at the Jefferson County JVS have been canceled for the remainder of the term.
¯ All Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361 meetings and business meetings and house committee meetings are canceled until further notice.
¯ The Chester-Newell Sportsmen Club has canceled all remaining spring turkey shoots.
¯ The Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church's "Together" dinners on Wednesday are canceled until further notice.
¯ The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will be closed until further notice as a measure of safety for employees and the public.
