Brooke High will induct 3 into Athletic Hall of Fame

WELLSBURG — Officials at Brooke High School have announced new inductees into the Brooke High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Lee Weppler, principal at the high school, said this year’s induction will include three individuals.

The inductees are former cheering coach Christina Stucin; Kurt Kostur, Class of 1985; and Adrienne (Stucin) Sweitzer, Class of 1998.

According to Weppler, this is the 31st-annual Athletic Hall of Fame Recognition Ceremony.

The purpose of the Brooke High School Athletic Hall of Fame expanded last year to include leaders on and off the field who promoted outstanding achievement and contribution to the Brooke High School Athletic Program, as well as to select and honor Brooke High graduates who have distinguished themselves at the intercollegiate level both on and off the field of play.

According to Weppler, the hall of fame serves as “a symbol of appreciation of the excellence, honor and devotion displayed by these celebrated individuals.”

The Hall of Fame Recognition Ceremony will be held on Sept. 27 during the pre-game ceremonies of the Brooke vs. Ripley football game. The day’s activities will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a dinner and induction program in Brooke High School’s Cafeteria A.

Guests, presenters, family, friends and the general public are invited.

Tickets for the dinner are available at the Brooke High School Main Office. The cost is $15 per person, and the dinner will be catered by Vito’s 2 of Follansbee.

An on-field ceremony will take place at halftime of the football game.

For tickets, call the high school at (304) 527-1410 or stop in the main office.

According to Weppler, the inductees will be presented plaques featuring their portraits and records. Each plaque will be added to the Athletic Hall of Fame Wall located in the Brooke High School Wellness Facility. They also will receive a framed certificate of induction, a statuette emblematic of their sport and a medallion.
