Swap meet and car show to benefit Oglebay Good Zoo set for Saturday
WHEELING — Whether it’s a shiny Mustang Shelby muscle car, a vintage Studebaker or a jacked up pickup truck, visitors can expect to see a large variety of vehicles at the 27th-annual Oglebay Good Zoo Benefit Car, Truck, Tractor, Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet this weekend.
The Ohio Valley Street Survivors Car Club will present a one-day car show from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Site One near the zoo, with a rain date of Sunday.
Car show registration includes goody bags for children and admission to the Good Zoo. One vehicle will be awarded the a “Best of Show” trophy. There will also be oldies music, 50/50 drawings, food vendors and basket drawings.
Bill Sangfroid, vice-president of the Ohio Valley Street Survivors said visitors can expect to have a good time and see a large variety of vehicles and participate in the event’s swap meet. He said they are hoping for more than 200 show participants since it is a one-day show this year. It used to be a three-day show.
While the admission price will benefit the Good Zoo, other proceeds raised at the event will benefit local charities through donations by the Ohio Valley Street Survivors Car Club. He said it is a way for the club to give back to the local community.
“Public admission goes to the Good Zoo — what we raise helps us give money to charities at Christmas-time,” Sangfroid explained. “Last year we gave away $5,000 away at Christmas-time.”
