WINTERSVILLE -- A 4-year-old girl died following a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 22, between state Route 43 and Lovers Lane, around 5:45 p.m. on Monday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

A trooper said a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Christopher A. Ogden, 25, of Bloomingdale was traveling eastbound at around 15 mph because it had a flat tire. A Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Jerry L. Gill, 49, of Hermitage, Pa., came upon the slow moving Ogden vehicle and struck it in the rear traveling at 69 mph, the patrol reported.

A passenger in the Ogden vehicle, Alyson Pasco, 4, of Bloomingdale was in the rear of the vehicle in a child booster seat, the patrol reported.

She was taken to Trinity Medical Center West and flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
