Food, music, wine set for concert
WHEELING — A Taste of the Symphony, an event featuring wine, hors d’oeuvers and an intimate chamber music performance by the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, will be held Wednesday at the Chancery of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.
From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., attendees will be able to enjoy a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Rocco Basil. At 7 p.m, the musicians, will perform. Elisa Kohanski (cello), Roi Mezare (clarinet) and Rodrigo Ojeda (piano) will offer a performance that features works by Mozart, Bruch and Brahms.
Kohanski has enjoyed a diverse performing career, appearing regularly as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player, and championing unique collaborations with artists of other disciplines. She is principal cellist of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the Wheeling Symphony and is a member of the cello section in the Pittsburgh Opera.
Mezare appears with the Pittsburgh Symphony, New World Symphony in Miami, Pittsburgh Opera, Pittsburgh Ballet and the IDF Orchestra. He holds the principal clarinet position with the Wheeling Symphony.
Ojeda is an artist lecturer in piano in the school of music at Carnegie Mellon University as well as a piano faculty member in its music preparatory school. He has played with the Pittsburgh Symphony since October 2006.

Our thanks to the diocese for allowing us to play in this space and for use of their unbelievable and beautifully refurbished 1900s Steinway & Sons piano.
