Steubenville Police Hooligans: A woman at a mall store wanted to fight after another woman checking out said something about her children behaving badly, Monday. The woman checking out said there was “a group of children acting wild,” with one of them “older and on a handicap scooter, driving it recklessly” and almost hitting her. She said something, and the woman with the juveniles “began yelling and causing a scene before stating they could go outside and fight.” The loud woman took the kids and left before police arrived. Steubenville Police Contrarian: A city resident was cited for a sidewalk violation when they watched her walk into the middle of Adams Street right after she and three companions had been warned not to do it again, Monday. Police said Lamontea Whately, 32, 414 N. Sixth St., was cited for failing to use the sidewalk. Police said they had stopped the four in the 900 block of Adams Street and warned them that particular section of Adams Street “is dark, windy and a hill, (so) a driver coming down the hill could potentially not see them in time, resulting in them being hit.” After ...

Steubenville Police No return: A man staying at Beacon House was cited after he allegedly flipped a table over in front of police, then wouldn’t stop “cussing and yelling” because his charger cord was stolen, Friday. Police said they couldn’t convince Christopher Little, 40, no fixed address, to calm down, even after they told him they’d “watch the video and attempt to get his cord back” and claim he continued to “scream and cuss outside, causing a disturbance.” Little told them he was leaving but when they told him the staff didn’t want him to return they report he ...

Steubenville Police Loaded: A Market Square resident said a man standing in the upper parking lot had been brandishing a firearm, Wednesday. He told police he was standing at the corner waiting on a female friend to walk to him when he thought the man was staring at him and asked him what he was looking at. He said the two of them had words and then the man drove over to the parking lot and went into one of the buildings, then came out with a gun and “racked the slide of (it.)” The juvenile he’d been waiting for walked up and tried to talk to the man to de-escalate the situation ...
