Police charged Denzel Mills, no age available, Columbus, with felony domestic violence as well as obstruction when they found him later that day causing problems outside her elderly father’s home in the 200 block of North Fourth Street. Police said the pregnant woman told them after she refused to get the abortion he donned boxing gloves and began hitting her face, and when she fell to the floor “he began to choke her with the gloves still on his hands.” She told police he wouldn’t let her leave so she ended up climbing through a window, ripping the screen, and as she fled reported hearing him saying “get her people, get the police.” Police said she had a scratch on her arm and her cheek was swollen. Police patrolling Fourth Street said they heard a man screaming and when they investigated, discovered that victim was the woman’s father. Her father told police Mills thought his daughter was at his place and kicked his door and threatened to “kill all of you,” leaving a footprint on it and the deadlock damaged. Police said Mills was belligerent, walking away when they told him to stop, at one point appearing as if he might strike an officer, and refused to identify himself.
