Truth be told: A Smithfield man complained to deputies the Jefferson County Humane Society refused to accept a box of kittens he was trying to leave there, Monday. Deputies told him it was between him and the Humane Society, but then the Humane Society contacted deputies because the man told them "we stated they had to take the kittens" and said they already have an abandonment case pending against him and don't have room for more cats. Deputies reassured the shelter staff the man was making things up and said if he drops the kittens at the shelter to charge him again if they can. They then called the man back and told him no one had said he could dump the kittens at the shelter, and if he did he could be charged.
Targeted: A Richmond woman said someone opened an account using her maiden name, Monday. She told deputies she found out about it when she got a confirmation e-mail. She suspects her ex.

Time to go: The owner of a property in the 1600 block of Roosevelt Avenue told police a former tenant keeps coming back and barricading himself inside the property, Monday. He said the man was "possibly under the influence of some sort of stimulant and was acting out in an aggressive manner…" He said the man was brandishing a large knife/machete Monday and told the landlord he would not be able to stop him being in the property.
The man with the weapon also stretched several extension cords across the street to his landlord's house. The man wouldn't come to the door and police told the landlord he'd have to formally evict the man.
Vindictive: A South Sixth Street resident said his ex and her new boyfriend tried to run him off the road in West Virginia and have been harassing him by text and on social media, Monday. He was given information on how to block the woman from contacting him and advised him to document future harassment.
Parenting needed: Juveniles are causing problems again at a Sunset Boulevard fast food restaurant, coming in after school and disrupting business and leaving trash scattered throughout the dining area, Monday. Employees said it's an ongoing problem. On Monday, they said the juveniles were wrestling with one another and when asked to leave, one of them refused and began arguing with employees over seven cents. After police spoke with him, he left.
Bogus: A Rosemont Avenue resident said a man came to her back door, claiming to be her nephew and asking for a seltzer, Monday. She told police she had no idea who the man was, but said he was driving a silver Toyota. While they were searching for him another resident down the street said the same male had asked another resident for a seltzer.
Drugs: Police responded to a possible overdose in the 700 block of North Sixth Street, Monday. When they arrived, the man was alert and oriented and speaking with Steubenville firefighters/ems. He was transported to Trinity Medical Center West for treatment.
Stolen: A resident in the 800 block of North Fourth Street said the catalytic converters were stolen from both his vehicles while they were parked in front of his residence, Monday.
Booked: Mitchell Lee Eakle, 33, 430 Maxwell Ave., Steubenville, four counts of petty theft, possession of drugs and probation violation, Monday. Officers searching for Eakle on the parole violation allegedly caught up to him exiting through the back door of the residence; Franklin Bonar, 45, 4878 county Road 10, Adena, failure to appear;
Ransacked: A Ridge Avenue resident told police someone entered her residence while she was out, searching her purse and other belongings and scattered trash throughout the property, Monday.
Concerning: A caller reported shots fired in the 1200 block of Oregon Avenue, Monday. The caller said two men in a dark-colored sedan, one black and one white, were responsible.
