STEUBENVILLE -- UPMC Trinity celebrated a special milestone on its first day as part of UPMC with the birth of its first baby, Millie Raine Moore, Thursday at the hospital’s birth center.
Millie, who checked in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces and 20.5 inches long, arrived after an eagerly anticipated wait, bringing excitement not only to her family but to the physicians, nurses and staff who cared for her during the occasion.
Her parents, Dewey and Jadyn Moore, residents of Chester, said they knew there was a possibility their daughter could become the first baby born at UPMC Trinity and described the experience as unexpected and special.
“We thought it was pretty exciting,” the family shared. “The timing was a little crazy, but in a good way.”
Millie’s mother was eight days past her due date and at 41 weeks and one day of pregnancy when she arrived for a scheduled induction. Although she was not yet experiencing contractions, the clinical team began the process, and Millie made her arrival at 9:18 am on Thursday.
The family chose UPMC Trinity’s Birth Center after hearing positive recommendations and reading favorable reviews from others in the community.
“We heard so many good things about the birth center,” her mother said. “We felt like it was the right place for us.”
Millie received her first name simply because her parents loved it. Her middle name, Raine, carries family significance and is her mother’s middle name.
Her mother’s obstetrician, Dr. Cynthia Gray, was among the members of the care team who helped welcome Millie into the world.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this special milestone with Millie and her family,” said a UPMC Trinity spokesperson. “The birth of our first baby marks an exciting beginning as we continue our commitment to providing exceptional maternal and infant care for families throughout the Ohio Valley.”
The family expressed gratitude for the care they received and shared their enthusiasm about being part of a memorable day in the hospital’s history.
