STEUBENVILLE POLICE

Five-timer: Employees at a Sunset Avenue business said Friday a man "has been showing up in the mornings...and going car-to-car in the drive-through lane asking people for money" and became argumentative" with customers and staff. He'd already left but they asked police to tell him not to return, telling police they've already begun the process of getting him officially trespassed. On Saturday police were told he was at Mr. Fuel, refusing to leave until he knew police were enroute. Later in the day callers complained the same man was sleeping in the parking lot of a University Boulevard business, after which callers complained that he was "laying on the ground" in the 800 block of N. 6th Avenue. Police told him he had to leave those locations again, pointing out that when he was napping on the N. 6th Avenue sidewalk he was "blocking the entrance to a parking lot." He then was at the hospital causing problems, telling police it was because "he was not provided the medicine he wanted" so he "pointed in a nurse's face." The nurse told police the male had been refused the treatment he wanted so he "put his finger in his face and swatted at him" 'but didn't make contact. Police tried to hand him a paper prescription they'd been given but he didn't want it."

Not her first go-round: Employees at Kroger said a woman left the store without paying for a cake, a large number "2" balloon, a large number "5" balloon, two small balloons and a bag filled with other merchandise Friday. As she loaded the stolen items in her grey Jeep Patriot they said she lost her grip on the "5" and it floated away.

Living large: Callers reported a man in the 1600 block of Moreland Drive Saturday "yelling and making threats to the general public." Upon arrival, he told police "he was just singing his music loudly and did not realize what time it was." He denied threatening anyone. Six hours later callers told police the man "appeared intoxicated." This time he told them he was fine but was smoking his cigar before heading home.

Growing pains: A woman in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue accused her ex of harassing her Saturday. She said he saw her leaving with a friend and followed them from Gaylord Towers. He said he was pulling into the building's parking lot and saw them leaving but told police she and others in the vehicle started "yelling at him" so he decided to leave and go to a family member's home and he "just so happened" to be following his ex and her companion. He claimed someone threw a cup at him near 7th and North streets.

Stuck in the middle: A tenant complained his landlord wanted him out of his current rental by the end of the day Saturday but he hadn't filed the necessary paperwork with the court. The renter said he'd given his new landlord his security deposit and first month's rent but the landlord couldn't meet him to give him the key to the residence due to family matters.

Frequent flyers: Two residents downtown were bickering Saturday over who should give back the other's belongings first. The female wanted to get her purse from the male's N. 7th Street apartment but he refused to give it to the N. 4th Street resident until she repaid him the $20 he'd lent her. She eventually told police "she didn't want her purse anymore." Later in the day, however, the male said she showed up at his apartment "and threw something." He said he didn't know what it was because he was in the other room. Police said they didn't see any damage.

Booked: Misty Goray, 50, no address listed, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs and obstructing official business and warrant (theft), Saturday. As they were taking her into custody on the warrant police allege Goray tried to jettison two plastic bags containing substances believed to be crack and methamphetamine and also had a glass pipe,

Listen up: Residents in the 700 block of Brady Avenue and the 1400 block of Wellesley Avenue had to be told to lower the volume on their radios Saturday. Police said they could hear the Brady Avenue resident's "bass rhythm/musical sound," while the Wellesley Avenue resident had what "sounded like a Brittany Spears composition" playing so loudly they could hear it outside. Both were advised to turn it down. Around 5 a.m. police were back in the 700 block of Brady Avenue because callers reported hearing music playing and people talking loudly. Police said about 30 college students were in the back yard of the residence. Police told the offending resident if they had to come back he'd be cited.

On foot: Police spotted a woman in the 1300 block of Sinclair Avenue crying as she walked Saturday. She told police her phone had died "and she was lost getting home." Police took her to Lovers Lane Circle apartments.

Far-fetched: A city resident reported being harassed by someone she doesn't know Saturday. She told police the keyboard warrior called her a snitch and claimed "she and her fiancé were going to die for it" and claimed to be in the mafia.
