Firefighters from the Wintersville Fire Department recently visited Jefferson County Christian School to discuss fire safety with elementary students in pre-K to sixth Grade. Firefighters covered important safety lessons about the importance of smoke alarms and what to do when they hear a smoke alarm. They stressed the importance of having a family escape plan with a meeting place outside. Some students handled the protective clothing and all students had the opportunity to tour Engine 8112. “We are grateful to the Wintersville Fire Department for taking the time to invest in our students,” said Scott Abercrombie, administrator of the Jefferson County Christian School. “The event today will help our students understand that a firefighter is a helper and works to serve our community every day.”
