Equipment, antique power shows set

Contributed WORKING SHOW — Organizers of the Old Construction and Mining Equipment Show plan to continue taking down a large hill at the site during this years event, which will be held Oct. 24-25.

MINGO JUNCTION -- The 23rd-annual Old Construction and Mining Equipment Show and the Ninth- Annual Appalachian Ohio Antique Power Show will be held Oct. 24-25 at 761 Scott Featner Road.

Antique trucks, construction and mining equipment will be on static display and in operation throughout the weekend. Equipment owned by members of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the Historical Construction Equipment Association, Historical Construction Equipment Association, Yellow Power Caterpillar + Community and other organizations will be displayed or in operation.

All antique trucks, construction, crawler and mining (surface or underground) equipment will be welcome. Participants can bring their antique trucks, crawlers, construction equipment and mining equipment for some digging fun or static display. Exhibitor camping is available on site. Photo and history displays are also welcome.

The antique power show will feature antique tractors, engines, hit-and-miss items, oilfield engines, cars, trucks (semis and pickups) and garden tractors.

All agriculture, construction, industrial, mining, military, logging, oil and gas, steam and transportation machinery and history will be welcome.

The event will feature Ohio-built equipment. Organizers said they are celebrating America’s 250 by showcasing Ohio’s industrial contributions. Exhibitors are invited to bring their Ohio-built equipment and any equipment by a manufacturer that started in Ohio.

The show marks the 30th anniversary of the Historical Construction Equipment Association -- Ohio Valley Chapter. The Ohio Valley Chapter is a regional chapter of the Historical Construction Equipment Association and covers Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia and Southwestern Pennsylvania.

The Historical Construction Equipment Association is based in Bowling Green and is dedicated to the preservation of construction, dredging and surface mining equipment and history.

Those traveling with a semi or a truck with a trailer are asked to contact Bill Flesher at (740) 381-8761 for directions. This will avoid issues caused by GPS directions.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 24 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 25 and admission is $5 per person. A food vendor will be on site throughout the show. Oct. 23 is set-up day for anyone who wants to bring in their equipment prior to the start of the show.

Organizers said they will continue to take down a large hill at the show location as part of the Old Construction and Mining Equipment Show. This will be the second year both shows have been at this location.
