EOCC board to meet
WINTERSVILLE -- The Facility Governance Board of the Eastern Ohio Correction Center will hold its regular meeting at 11 a.m. Oct. 23 in Wintersville.
EOCC is located at 470 state Route 43, Wintersville.
New Cumberland paving set
NEW Cumberland --All city streets in New Cumberland, between the intersection of state Route 2 and Jackson Street will be restricted from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. from today through early November for paving.
Flaggers will maintain traffic. Motorists are advised to slow down and expect delays. Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
Veterans bridge closures set
WEIRTON -- The eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. Route 22 on the Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed for inspection from midnight Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday and from midnight Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday for bridge inspection, the West Virginia Division of Highways has announced.
The closures will be at night to minimize the impact on the traveling public. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route. Emergency vehicles will be accommodated.
Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
SHS Class of ’59 meets
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville High School Class of 1959 held its monthly luncheon Sept. 9 with 14 in attendance.
Norina Eroshevich gave the blessing. The group shared memories of Pete Barren and Joe Pierro, two loyal and supportive members of the city of Steubenville and its schools.
Well wishes were forwarded to Joann Monigold and Judy BeLL. Barbara Kowalski provided the cake and birthday wishes were given to Deanna Nodianos and all with September birthdays.
The next meeting will be held Oct. 14 in he G.O.A.T. Restaurant inside the Fort Steuben Mall. Call Norina Eroshevich at (740) 219-2234 for reservations. All are welcome.
Free spaghetti dinner at JVS
BLOOMINGDALE -- The Jefferson County Joint Vocational School’s spaghetti dinners are being served once again as the longtime event makes its return.
Principal Heather Hoover said the free dinner is set for Oct. 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and food is being prepared by the school’s culinary arts program. A Google Form will be posted on the school’s website for reservations, but walk-ins are also welcome.
“It is to provide an opportunity for the people to see the great things happening at the JVS and to give back to the community in appreciation for their continued support,” Hoover added. “We will also do guided tours and the student council, Sources of Strength and Rotary Club members will be on hand to assist with tours and act as hosts to seat attendants.”

Grievance hearing set in Mingo Junction
MINGO JUNCTION -- Village Council has scheduled a grievance hearing for the fire chief for 7 p.m. Thursday. The meeting will be held in the village building, 501 Commercial Street.
Gospel meeting scheduled
WEIRTON -- Weirton Heights Church of Christ is hosting a gospel meeting Sunday through Oct. 14 focused on Great Chapters of the Bible.
Guest speaker will be Peter Ray Cole of Fairview, W.Va. Church members say all are welcome.
