Road projects bring closures, delays in Jefferson County

STEUBENVILLE -- The following are current road construction and traffic impacts reported by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Motorists should use caution in work zones, watch for changing traffic patterns and allow extra travel time.

-- The State Route 7 southbound on-ramp from Fourth Street in Toronto is closed as part of a mine subsidence restoration project. Traffic is rerouted northbound to the SR 152 exit, then back to SR 7 southbound. Completion is expected Oct. 31.

-- Work continues on a mine subsidence restoration project on SR 7 just south of the Fourth Street exit ramp in Toronto. One lane is maintained. Completion is expected Oct. 31.

-- Resurfacing continues on SR 7 from Brilliant to Steubenville. Work in Steubenville will take place at night, while work toward Brilliant will occur during the day. One lane is maintained in each direction. Completion is expected Oct. 31.

-- The Logan Avenue ramp to SR 7 northbound in Steubenville remains closed indefinitely because of a recurring slope failure. Construction is expected to begin in the coming months, pending required railroad approvals. Completion is expected Oct. 27.

-- SR 213 is closed for a project to realign a portion south of County Road 56. The detour uses SR 7 north to SR 152 west and back to SR 213. Completion is expected Sept. 30.

-- Resurfacing continues on nearly 9 miles of SR 213 from SR 7 in Steubenville to SR 152 in Knoxville. One lane is maintained with flaggers. Completion is expected Nov. 30.

-- Chip sealing continues on SR 164 from Bergholz in Jefferson County through Carroll County to Salineville. Traffic is maintained with flaggers. Completion is expected Sept. 30.

-- The Reese Street bridge just south of Saline Street in Irondale is closed for a bridge replacement. Completion is expected Oct. 31.

-- The two right eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 22 on the Veterans Memorial Bridge were scheduled to close Sept. 9 for bridge maintenance. The closures began on the Ohio side and moved across the bridge to West Virginia throughout the day.
