Retirement account emptied: A city resident told police he'd given someone "who claimed they would invest his money for him" access to his retirement funds Saturday, but after they had his information "the website no longer worked and his Fidelity retirement account was empty." He said he'd had about $150,000 in the account.
Flash point: A man in the 400 block of Henry Avenue said a man in a dark-colored SUV "brandished a firearm after he was asked to slow down" Saturday. The caller thought the vehicle was a black Jeep Grand Cherokee and the driver had long "dreads." The driver fled toward Lawson Avenue but it couldn't be located.
Crossing boundaries: The owner of the buildings being demolished in the 300 block of Market Street said Saturday he's having "on-going issues" with a man entering the demolition area, even though there's fencing and signs alerting pedestrians that it's a restricted area. He said the individual enters the demo area anyway "and begins questioning employees regarding activity taking place." The complainant said he'd already spoken with the man about trespassing.
Gassed: A woman eastbound in the 2600 block of Sunset Boulevard told police a gas can fell off a vehicle in front of her Friday but she didn't see it until it was too late to stop. She said she pulled into a parking lot behind the truck and the can was stuck under her vehicle. She said the driver of the truck got out "and yanked the car from under her vehicle, cracking the plastic trim." She said the driver was uncooperative and didn't offer his insurance information but she got a picture of the truck's license plate. Police advised her they would reach out to him.
Easy fix: A man in the 100 block of N. 4th Street told police Friday he'd been drinking but felt okay, even though "when he drinks too much he begins to get overwhelmed." Police advised him to stop drinking 'or at least slow down (his) drinking" to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Heave-ho: Police were told people with flashlights were near the railroad tracks on Railroad Avenue at S. 6th Street Friday. A man they located leaving the area said he and his wife had argued and she tossed his keys into the woods. He said he'd continue the search after daylight.
Ex-changed: A Belleview Boulevard resident said someone was "walking in his backyard calling for him and possibly trying to enter the residence" Friday. Police said it turned out to be his ex-girlfriend and a friend of hers checking on him. The ex said no one had heard from him recently so she was trying to make sure all was well but didn't get an answer at either door. The male told police he didn't want either of them on his property.
Booked: Otis Allen, 49, no fixed address, public indecency. Police on patrol alleged they'd "seen a man with his pants down, exposing his genitalia" Friday on 6th Avenue at Logan and believed he "may have been attempting to relieve himself." Allen told police his pants fell down because he does not have a belt and he was bent over...because his stomach was hurting." A motorist passing by told police she stopped to check on him because she saw that he was bent over and pointed out he "was definitely not wearing underwear when she saw him."
Hammered: A man in the 400 block 0f S. 5th Street said his son had been in a "small altercation" with another juvenile who "threatened to grab a hammer" Friday. He said he never saw the juvenile with a hammer and the child had home.
Her way: A caller reported a juvenile in the 300 block of Cedar Avenue "who walked outside and yelled for help" but then was taken inside by her father Saturday. Police spoke with her grandparents, who said they were on their porch talking with someone and the juvenile wanted to go outside too but they were keeping her inside. When they talked to the child she said she "yelled because she wanted to go outside" but was told no.
Problem behavior: A Rosswell Avenue woman wanted her son to leave her home Friday. She told police he'd been living with her for three or four weeks, so they told her they couldn't force him to leave because he's established residency and pointed out "she continues to allow (him) back into the residence." They advised her to have him evicted and then stop letting him back into her house.
Summons issued: Alesha Major, 33, 452 S. 5th Street, Steubenville, theft. Employees at Walmart alleged Major tried to leave the store Friday with infant clothing in her bag. Police said she was "remorseful" and told them she "was struggling and had an infant."
Booked: Rudolphus Strawder, 58, 731 Oakmont Ave., warrant for domestic violence (Friday); Desse Reynard, 40, 1257 Lincoln Ave., Steubenville, bench warrants for failure to appear (Dillonvale County Court) and failure to appear (Harrison County).
Cited: Carissa A. Ciciarelli, 37, 147 Buena Vista Blvd., Steubenville, failure to reinstate; Jadin Shackleford, 947 Sherman Ave., Steubenville, driving under suspension; Antonio M. Ochoa-Paredes, 19, 84 old State Route 7, Steubenville, no operator's license; Timothy Hannan Jr., 39, East Liverpool, driving under suspension.

Violent man: A Dillonvale woman told deputies Sept. 20 the man she'd been living with had been "putting his hands on her" and he "threw her out and threw her belongings outside, including her cats." She said he also "spit on her and hit her" and had been abusive throughout their relationship, showing them the bruises he left her with and was isolating her from friends and family, forcing her to change her phone number "several times" whenever he found out someone had her number. That night she'd been sleeping and was awakened by him "grabbing her ankles and pulling her violently out of bed" and said he slammed her onto the floor and hit her in places where bruises wouldn't be visible and called her names. She said she was afraid of him but didn't want to burden anybody
Him, too: A woman told deputies Sept. 20 her ex has been harassing her and threatening to get someone who works at Childrens' Services to "remove her children" and how he "would make her life hell if she left him." She said she no longer safe in their home so she'd moved in with family members, but a relative had told her he saw her ex trying to in her bedroom window and sent her a photo of her blinds and cushions pushed out of place. She said she'd been sleeping on the floor by choice and he'd dropped a mattress off that she didn't came to pick it up "began insulting and threatening her."
Con artist: A Steubenville area resident told deputies Sept. 15 a scammer had convinced her to buy $6,000 of Lowe's gift cards by telling her she was under investigation for money laundering. She said she'd already given the scammer the card numbers and PINS.
