STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will offer a variety of programs for children and adults throughout October.
At the Main Library, 740-282-9782, adults can participate in a discussion of "A Psalm for the Wild-Built" by Becky Chambers at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 and 20. Registration is required.
Tot Time for children ages 2-4 and a parent or caregiver will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 6, 13 and 20, and at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 8, 15 and 22. Participants can drop by for stories and more.
At the Adena Branch, 740-320-0009, Tot Time for children ages 2-4 and a parent or caregiver will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 5. Story Time for children ages 5-10 will be at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 5. Registration is required for Story Time.
The Bergholz Branch, 740-314-6207, will offer Babygarten at 10 a.m. Oct. 6. The lap-sit program is designed for babies from birth to age 2 and their parents or caregivers and features stories, songs and rhymes. Participants will receive a free board book. Registration is required.
Adults can join Sit & Sip from 10-11 a.m. every Monday for coffee and conversation. Hancock County Savings Bank will present a Scams & Fraud Awareness program at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 5, focusing on online safety and fraud prevention. Registration is required.
At the Brilliant Branch, 740-314-4307, children can create a spooky monster using clay at 3 p.m. Oct. 10. Registration is required.
The Dillonvale Branch, 740-314-4310, will offer a bookshelf sitter craft for adults at 5 p.m. Oct. 6. Participants can choose to create either a scarecrow or ghost. Registration is required.

At the Schiappa Branch, 740-264-6166, patrons can learn about the life and legacy of Moses Fleetwood Walker during a program at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 7.
Craig A. Brown will lead a discussion about Walker, an Ohio native who became the first African American major league baseball player. Brown has researched and promoted Walker's legacy and helped lead the statewide effort that established Moses Fleetwood Walker Day in Ohio.
Following the discussion, the library will show a biopic about baseball legend Jackie Robinson. Light refreshments will be provided by the Mount Pleasant Historical Society. Registration is required.
The branch also will offer an armchair travel program featuring Serbia and Croatia at 6 p.m. Oct. 8. Library employee Sarita Asawa will share travel tips, culture and a sample of food. Registration is required.
Dungeons & Dragons will be offered from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 5, 19 and 26 for ages 17 and older. Registration is required.
Children ages 5-10 can attend 3 Stories at 3 at 3 p.m. Oct. 6 and 27. The 15-minute program is designed for children on the go and does not require registration.
