Spaghetti dinner planned
MINGO JUNCTION -- Rosemont Chapel, located at the corner of Williams Boulevard and Goulds Road, will hold a spaghetti dinner from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The menu will include spaghetti and meat sauce, bread, a beverage and a desert/
The cost is $10 or adults and $5 for children under 12.
Dine-in and carryout options will be available.
Auditions set for final 'Wooden Heart Follies'
STEUBENVILLE -- Auditions for the sixth and final production of the holiday musical "Wooden Heart Follies" will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 24 and 1-3 p.m. Sept. 26 at Leonardo’s, Renaissance Coffee Roasting Co., 159 N. Fourth St.
Playwrights and directors Von and John Holmes are retiring and moving from the area after the holidays, making this year’s production the last.
The 2026 show, "The Invasion of the Wood Snatchers," follows aliens from the planet Grumponia who plot to kidnap Steubenville’s nutcrackers.
Adult actors age 18 and older are being sought. Those auditioning should be prepared to do a cold reading from the play and sing "Joy to the World."

Resurrection Island Tattoo Convention set
TRIADELPHIA -- The sixth annual Resurrection Island Tattoo Convention will be held Oct. 9-11 at the Highlands Sports Complex.
Presented by Breaking Skin Tattoo & Body Piercing, the all-ages event will feature tattoo artists from across the country, live tattooing, competitions, vendors, original artwork and entertainment.
Featured artists include Elaine Nerowski, Tyler Andrews, Mike Geyer, Adam "Ajax" Zgorliski and Bill Atkinson, along with "Ink Master" veterans Chris Shockley, Rachel Helmich and Joe Capone.
Entertainment will include No Gimmicks Needed Suspension Team, burlesque performer Sam Eye Am, Monster Dolls, Poison tribute band Say Ahh and Ohio Valley band Tongue N Cheek.
Attendees also will have an opportunity to support Ohio Valley Recovery Inc., also known as The Unity Center. Free naloxone and public health information will be available from the Ohio County Health Department.
Hours are noon to midnight Oct. 9-10 and noon to 7 p.m. Oct. 11. Admission is $15 in advance or $20 at the door Friday and Saturday and $10 in advance or $15 at the door Sunday. Weekend passes are $30 in advance or $40 at the door. Children 7 and younger are admitted free.
Library to show final ‘Ohio Goes to the Movies’ film
STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will wrap up its Ohio Goes to the Movies series with a showing of "The Rescuers" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Fort Steuben Amphitheater.
The series is part of Ohio Goes to the Movies, a statewide America 250-Ohio initiative featuring films with connections to the Buckeye State. The library has hosted movies at its branches throughout the year.
Saturday’s showing will be the 10th Ohio Goes to the Movies presentation in Jefferson County.
In case of rain, the movie will be shown at the same time at the Main Library. Any location change will be announced on the library’s Facebook page.
Health district schedules flu shot clinics
STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County General Health District will begin offering flu shots at mobile drive-through clinics and community events across Jefferson County.
Flu vaccines are available for people 6 months and older. Residents also can receive vaccines at the health district’s Steubenville or Toronto offices by calling (740) 283-8530.
The schedule includes:
-- Thursday, noon to 2 p.m., 360 N. Main St., Amsterdam, former Dollar Tree-Family Dollar.
-- Oct. 7, 4-6 p.m., Buckeye Local High School.
-- Oct. 8, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Fall Senior Expo at St. Florian Event Center.
-- Oct. 8, 2-5 p.m., Youngstown State University-Steubenville, former truck school lot, enter from John Scott Highway.
-- Oct. 9, 9 a.m.-noon, Youngstown State University-Steubenville.
-- Oct. 14, 4-6 p.m., Edison High School.
-- Oct. 28, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Ohio Valley Health Center Health Fair.
The health district also will offer flu vaccines at its Toronto office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the office closed for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The date for the Toronto clinic was not included in the information provided.
