BPW sets political forum
STEUBENVILLE -- The Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women’s Club will again be hosting a political forum event for candidates and issues in Jefferson County.
It’s an event that aligns with the club’s mission to empower women through advocacy, education and information. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend to learn and make informed decisions when casting their ballots in the Nov. 3 election.
The forum will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 5 at Youngstown State University-Steubenville.
After introductions, each candidate will be given two minutes to introduce themselves and discuss their backgrounds and platforms. A moderator will ask a series of questions submitted by audience members. Candidates will be given set times to answer the questions.
Ballot information will be available for viewing, and representatives will be available to offer information about issues and levies that will appear on the ballot.

Soup, sweet sale set
MINGO JUNCTION -- A soup and sweet sale will be held Oct. 3 at Harmony Church, 2117 Commercial Ave.
Vegetable and bean soup will be available for $8 per quart, and homemade pies will be on sale for $15 each.
Meetings set in Toronto
TORONTO -- City Council’s Zoning Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 23 in Council Chambers for further discussion on a possible Community Reinvestment Area.
Officials also announced that a public hearing will be held at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 28 in Council Chambers for the zoning the Wallace Heights subdivision to an R-1 zone in accordance with the city’s building code.
Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority will hold its regular board meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Robert J. Cutri Modal Center in Steubenville.

SNHU announces summer dean’s list
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Southern New Hampshire University has announced its summer 2026 dean’s list, which recognizes full-time undergraduate students who earned a grade-point average of 3.5 to 3.699 during the reporting term.
Local students named to the list include Jordan Carroll of Salineville, Broc Glover of Martins Ferry and Stacy Cline of Steubenville.
The summer terms run from May through August.
Weirton Traffic Commission meeting canceled
WEIRTON, W.Va. -- The Weirton Traffic Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, has been canceled. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15.
