By From STAFF REPORTS 2 min read

STEUBENVILLE -- Motorists in Steubenville and Wellsburg should be aware of upcoming road work that will impact traffic beginning Monday.

Washington Street (state Route 43) in Steubenville will be closed to all traffic beginning at 7 a.m. Monday from the Market Street Ramp to North Seventh Street. The closure is expected to last seven to 10 days.

The closure is needed for a contractor to complete concrete pavement joint repairs across all four lanes of Washington Street.

Motorists traveling eastbound on Washington Street (SR 43 South) will be directed to use the Market Street Ramp to access downtown. Those traveling westbound on Washington Street (SR 43 North) are advised to use the Adams Street Ramp to reach the city's west end.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, use caution and be alert for changing traffic patterns through the construction area.

Questions or concerns may be directed to Steubenville City Engineer Michael F. Dolak at 740-283-6000, Ext. 3303.

In Wellsburg, lane restrictions are planned on WV 27 (Washington Pike) and County Route 27/17 (Park Addition) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for milling and paving work.

The roads will be restricted to one lane, with flaggers maintaining traffic flow. Motorists should expect delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone.

Officials noted that inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could affect the project schedule.
