Raining glass: A Hollywood Boulevard resident told police she heard her bedroom window glass break and saw her ex running away Friday. Police said there was broken glass "all over her bed and the baby’s bassinet" and shards "landed on her and the child." The woman had a scratch on her leg but did not need medical attention, and the baby was unharmed. The ex fled the area.
Would-be visitor: A resident in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue said someone tried to get into her residence Saturday. She said she fell asleep just before midnight and when she woke up her front window "was partially open, a part of her curtain pulled down and a set of her keys on the floor." Police said the window didn’t open far enough that someone could get in the door, but the screen was on the ground.
Dangling: Police reported finding a car parked in the 900 block of Lawson Avenue Saturday with the driver’s side door open "and a foot hanging out of (it)." Police said they found two open containers in the stationary vehicle, so they warned the man and dumped the alcohol out.
Red means stop: Two drivers who collided at the intersection of Seventh Street and Adams Street each claimed they’d stopped at the flashing red light before entering the intersection Saturday. Both will be listed at fault because, after checking the city’s cameras, police said neither driver came to a complete stop.
Targeted: A downtown resident told police Friday a detached garage on the property had been broken into for the second time in a week. Police said wooden doors at the front of the building were broken. The owner said items are missing but is unsure of specifics because it’s used for storage and believes individuals "down the street" are responsible.
Missing: A business manager reported Friday that more than $10,000 in cash and merchandise from his store is unaccounted for.
Cited: Thomas E. Darr, no age listed, 683 Longvue Drive, Wintersville, failure to yield while making a left turn after a two-car collision at the intersection of John Scott Highway and Sunset Boulevard. Police said Darr told them he was turning left onto John Scott and didn’t see the other vehicle due to intense sun glare. Both vehicles were heavily damaged, with airbags deployed, but no injuries were reported.
Driver, passenger arrested: Two men were taken into custody Friday in the 300 block of North Street. Police said the driver, Kelly Gensley, 58, 106 Locust St., Mingo Junction, was charged with driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia and was served with a warrant for failure to appear in Common Pleas Court. His passenger, Edward Rogers, 77, 3969 Stratford Blvd., Steubenville, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police reported finding a crack pipe in the driver’s side door, and additional pipes were located in a bag by the center console. A bag of crack and another pipe were allegedly found in a bag where Rogers was sitting, police said.
Pilfered: The owner of a property in the 1100 block of Oregon Avenue said he discovered "several things damaged" at the structure Friday. Police said the front window had a large crack and one side had been pushed in and the frame damaged. Two doors were damaged, and a bathroom sink, basin sink and copper pipes were stolen, he said.
Batty: A woman in the 400 block of Lincoln Boulevard needed help getting a bat out of the house Saturday.
Charged: Two Sparks delivery drivers are facing charges after Walmart employees reported having video footage allegedly showing them trying to leave the store without paying for items Saturday. The drivers, Tisha D. Silvers, 42, Fowler Hill Road, Wellsburg, and Brayden A. Wilson, 22, 4039 Washington St., Weirton, were each charged with theft. Employees claimed Silvers had merchandise valued at just under $6 and Wilson had merchandise valued at just over $20.
Too much: Police were told an "intoxicated female" was causing problems in the 700 block of Market Street Saturday. She was advised to return to her apartment for the night.
Cited: A Weirton man was cited after a traffic stop at Seventh and Logan streets Friday. Police said Jason Rawson, 45, 49 Oriole Court, Weirton, was cited for no brake lights and no child restraint. Also, a white sedan with expired plates parked in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue was towed. Police said the registration expired in August.
