Vicious circle: A woman who walked away from Trinity West after her arrest earlier in the day was located Monday in the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue, police report. Melissa Marker, 39, 1402 Ridge Ave., was taken into custody for escape. Police said as they approached, "people nearby began yelling for (her) to run," but she was taken into custody as she tried to exit a residence through the back door. Marker claimed "she ate a glass vile containing fentanyl," and even though her tongue wasn't bloody and she showed no sign of having ingested glass, she still had to be transported to the hospital to be cleared, police reported.
Recurring problem: A woman said her ex came to her home Sunday but they argued. After he left, she told police she discovered her phone was missing and thought he took it. She said she found it on the sidewalk outside just before police arrived.
Bygones aren't bygones: A Cleveland Avenue resident reported her neighbor was yelling at her "due to past issues involving loose dogs" Sunday.
Time's up: Police were asked to tell a man staying in an Oregon Avenue property Monday that he needed to leave. The owner said he gave his niece permission to stay there but found out she let the male move in as well. He did allow the man to gather his things before he left.
Fell ill: A man dealing with a medical emergency crashed in the 1200 block of Sinclair Avenue Monday. The vehicle came to rest in someone's yard but was smoking and still in drive with the wheels spinning because the man's foot was on the accelerator. One of the vehicle's tires was shredded and it was scraped and dented.
Left alone: A caller reported seeing an unattended child in a car with the engine running in the parking lot outside Walmart Monday, but said she didn't approach the vehicle because "she was too afraid to walk up and check." Police located the 9-year-old child, who they said was watching a phone while her mother was "doing a quick Spark order" for delivery. Mom told police she thought her daughter was old enough to wait in the vehicle by herself but ended up taking her inside the store.
Hangups: Police investigating two hangup calls found a man who claimed "a female was following him and harassing him" Monday in the 800 block of Market Street. They found the woman, who they described as his "recent victim," and she told them she'd been following him because she'd let him borrow a phone and now he wouldn't return it. Police asked him for the phone but he wouldn't give it up, claiming it was his. They escorted the woman to another location and advised her to stay away from him.
Gassed: A woman in the 700 block of Market Street said she'd been arguing with a male who "grabbed her by the shirt and pushed her back." She said she got away by pretending she was calling a pizza shop. He was advised to stay away from the residence for the rest of the night. A couple hours later, a Lincoln Avenue resident told police that same woman was causing a disturbance on her front porch and she wanted her to leave. She said the woman arrived there "intoxicated" and needed to go somewhere else, but the woman claimed she'd been "followed down Lincoln Boulevard by a suspicious truck" and sat down on the porch in hopes of getting a ride.
Suspicious: A resident told police he thought someone "may have entered his apartment" in the 800 block of N. Sixth Street Monday. He said nothing was missing but the perpetrator went through his personal things "and other items were moved around."
Damaged: A woman told police she discovered one side of her car had been heavily damaged while it was parked in the 100 block of N. Fifth Street.
Clock's ticking: A woman who's been living in a Madison Avenue home with her boyfriend for the past six months said Monday the landlord gave her an hour to pack up her belongings and leave. Police told her if she'd been there that long, the landlord would have to formally evict her, then notified the landlord that he'd have to handle it in court.
Charged: Eric L. Vladich, 42, Georgetown, Pa., operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police reported finding Vladich slumped over behind the wheel of a red truck with drug paraphernalia in his hand and lap. He allegedly told police he was tired and had recently used fentanyl.
Cited: Eric Wade, 41, Shadyside, failure to yield left turn.
