Richmond council meeting changed
RICHMOND -- Village Council is changing the meeting date due to the Labor Day holiday.
The meeting has been moved to 7 p.m. Sept. 8 and is open to the public.

Road work planned in city
STEUBENVILLE -- A couple of road projects next week will affect traffic, the city’s engineering department has announced.
The portion of Sinclair Avenue that runs from Lovers Lane to John Scott Highway will be closed from 7 a.m. Monday until 3:30 p.m. Aug. 28 while crews replace asphalt pavement.
Motorists will be able to access the rear entrance to the Fort Steuben Mall, doctor’s offices and nursing home facilities along Sinclair Avenue by using the the Lovers Lane side of Sinclair Avenue.
The work will involve removal and replacement of asphalt pavement. Motorists are advised to allow extra time to reach their destinations.
And, the portion of Market Street that runs from Seventh Street to Sixth Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday while crews from the Norfolk Southern Railroad work on the railroad crossing,
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
International Senior Club meets
WEIRTON -- The International Senior Club met Aug. 11 at Undo’s in Weirton.
Patty Coppa led the prayer and blessing. Elaine Briceland led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by members singing “God Bless America.” A buffet dinner and desserts were enjoyed by the members.
Liz Beecroft introduced new member Norma Eltringham. President Regina Truax opened with a moment of silence for former member, Mary Ellen Groves, who recently passed away. Rita Orler, secretary, read the minutes and they were approved as read. Norma Henson, treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report which was approved and filed for audit. There was no business to report, but members are asked to wear their favorite team sport shirt at the September meeting. Members were also asked to bring canned goods for the Community Bread Basket.
“Happy Birthday” was sung to the September members, Donna Filipowski, Marlene Cruze, Dolores LaRosa, JoAnn Kerr, Ruth Masters, Mary Alice Meyer, Terry Ramsey, Carl Truax, Lilien Zuro, and Cheryl Thompson. Happy anniversary was sung to Regina and Carl Truax, 67 years. Liz Beecroft and Rena Konkle gave the jokes of the day.

The 50/50 was won by Stephanie Iannetti. The Undo’s gift certificates were won by Sylvia Wendt and Faye Jones. Door prizes gift cards were won by Joyce Dobbs and Norma Henson. A card game was played, and prizes were awarded at each table.

GFWCWV holds conference
LOGAN -- The 53rd-annual summer conference of GFWCWV was held at Camp Chief Logan.
The conference was presided over by GFWCWV President Terri Diamond of Charleston. Jamesie Beecroft of Wheeling and Helen Moren of Bethany attended the conference.
The event included workshops on membership, leadership, education, health and wellness, domestic violence and sexual assault and others. Moren presented an article on legislation and public policy.
The Northern District is made up of five clubs, Weirton, Bethany, Warwood, Wheeling and McMechen. Membership is open to any woman in the area. For information, contact any of the clubs.
Hancock County Museum to host car cruise
NEW CUMBERLAND - The Hancock County Museum, in cooperation with Revolution Car Club, is hosting Cruise Night at the Museum, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday.
The Hancock County Museum is located at 1008 Ridge Ave., New Cumberland, with the event featuring an opportunity to explore the museum while checking out a lineup of cars.
Car cruise participants will be parked in the lawn behind the museum, with spectators and visitors asked to park at the Immaculate Conception Church.
Rigatoni dinner to benefit Salvation Army
WEIRTON - The Salvation Army will be hosting a rigatoni dinner fundraiser, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aug. 29.
Meals are $10 per plate, and will include rigatoni, salad, dessert and water. Tickets are available by calling Maj. Tonya Roberts at (304) 748-4310.
