HOME Consortium interest sought

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Commission continues to seek interest in one vacant position on the Northern Panhandle HOME Consortium Council.

Those interested in the position are asked to submit a letter of interest to the Brooke County Clerk’s Office.

The HOME Consortium is a federal housing partnership which pools grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in support of affordable housing programs.JEFFERSON COUNTY PORT AUTHORITY TO MEET

STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Port Authority's board of directors will hold its regular meeting at 4:30 p.m. today.

US 22, WV 2 LANE CLOSURES SET

BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. -- Right lane closures are scheduled on eastbound U.S. 22 and westbound W.Va. 2 at the interchange beginning Friday through Aug. 28 for patching work.

Motorists are advised to slow down when traveling through the construction area. Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could alter the schedule.

CONSERVATION FUND ACCEPTING GRANT APPLICATIONS

NELSONVILLE -- The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is accepting applications for 2026 grants through the Ora E. Anderson Conservation Fund for Appalachian Ohio.

Public and nonprofit organizations, as well as groups working with a nonprofit or public organization through fiscal sponsorship, are eligible to apply. Funding will support conservation activities in Appalachian Ohio's 32 counties, with an emphasis on watershed restoration, sustainable forestry practices and preservation of the region's cultural and environmental history.

Applications are due Sept. 29. Information and applications are available at AppalachianOhio.org/Ora-Anderson.

LIBRARY EVENTS SET

STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced several upcoming programs.

The Books on Tap book club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at Hightower Brewing Company. Those interested in joining may call the Main Library at 740-282-9782 for information about the book being discussed.

Children can pick up Grab-and-Go Story Time and Craft kits beginning Sept. 1, while supplies last, at the Adena Branch and Dillonvale Branch.

CACFP SPONSORSHIP ANNOUNCED

EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Community Action Agency of Columbiana County has announced its sponsorship of the USDA-funded Child and Adult Care Food Program.

The program is available through Head Start locations in East Liverpool, East Palestine, Lisbon, Salem, Salineville and St. Anthony's in Steubenville.

The USDA prohibits discrimination in its programs based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, marital status, family or parental status, income derived from a public assistance program, political beliefs or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.

COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY ANNOUNCES CACFP SPONSORSHIP

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- The Community Action Agency of Columbiana County has announced its sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded Child and Adult Care Food Program.

Meals are available through the program at the following Head Start locations:

East Liverpool Head Start, 16924 St. Clair Ave., East Liverpool

East Palestine Head Start, 195 W. Grant St., East Palestine

Lisbon Head Start, 7878 Lincole Place, Lisbon

Salem Head Start, 1712 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem

Salineville Head Start, 110 E. Main St., Salineville

St. Anthony's Head Start, 243 S. Seventh St., Steubenville
