RESURFACING SET IN STEUBENVILLE
STEUBENVILLE -- The city will begin its 2026 City Street Hot-Mix Resurfacing Project at 7 a.m. Monday, with work continuing throughout the week, weather permitting.
The project will involve cold milling the existing asphalt and placing a hot-mix asphalt intermediate leveling course. A new hot-mix asphalt surface will be installed several weeks later.
"No Parking" signs will be posted on affected streets at least one day before work begins. Vehicles left on the street will be towed at the owner’s expense. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Work will take place on Wellesley Avenue from University Boulevard to Franklin Avenue, Franklin Avenue to Carnegie Street and Carnegie Street to Belleview Boulevard.
DD BOARD TO MEET
STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities will meet in regular session at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at the board's administrative offices, 250 John Scott Highway.
Those wishing to participate should call (740) 264-5812 before Thursday to allow time for accommodations to be made.

STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced several new fiction titles, including “This Story Might Save Your Life” by Tiffany Crum-Benny Abbott and Joy Moore, “Meet Me in Paris” by Kristin Harmel, “The Second Chance Trailer Park” by Katie Powner and “Where the Sky Begins” by Cindy Dees.

STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County’s Bookmobile will make the following stops during the week of Aug. 17:
Monday: Prime Time, Lovers Lane, 11 a.m. to noon; North End Neighborhood, 2-3 p.m.; and South End Neighborhood, 3-4 p.m.
Tuesday: Carriage Inn, 11 a.m.; Heritage Village, 11:15 a.m.; Meridian Greene, 12:15 p.m.; and Dixon Health Care, 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday: Home deliveries, 8 a.m.; and Mingo Senior Center, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Thursday: Bloomingdale Neighborhood, 814 Township Road 217, 3-4 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.
The Bookmobile will be off the road Friday.
STUDENTS INVITED TO JOIN TEEN AMBASSADOR BOARD
COLUMBUS -- The Ohio Attorney General’s Office is accepting applications for its Teen Ambassador Board for the 2026-27 academic year.
The program is open to rising high school juniors and seniors enrolled in public, private, charter or online schools who are interested in law and government. Ambassadors will work with an assistant attorney general, attend events and presentations, receive training and meet elected officials, including Attorney General Andy Wilson.
Applications are due Sept. 8. Each application must include a recommendation from a teacher, coach or community member. Information and application forms are available through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
BROOKE SCHOOL BOARD SETS SPECIAL MEETING
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Board of Education will hold a special session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18.
