Friends of Madonna picnic set for Saturday

WEIRTON - The 2026 Friends of Madonna picnic will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, on the Weirton Madonna High School campus.

The event brings together families, students, and alumni, providing an opportunity to connect prior to the start of the school year.

It will include a 4 p.m. Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Church, followed by a 3-on-3 basketball tournament with proceeds to benefit the Chuckie Mahoney Foundation, Meet the Machines, a volleyball matchup, and the Fall Sports Meet the Team event, along with other activities.

Sponsors include James White Construction, Carey and Stewart PLLC, First Choice Community Federal Credit Union, Gus’s Goodies, Hancock County Savings Bank, Hancock County Schools Employees Community Credit Union, Holeshot Graphix, Lauttamus Security, and Michael Edward Nogay, Esq. In-kind donations were provided by Mountaineer Casino.

The picnic is open to the community.

Finley Church party returns

STEUBENVILLE -- The Finley Church Block Party returns Saturday.

It will be the 25th time Finley has hosted the block party, which is open to all ages and will run from noon to 3 p.m.

The church, located at 958 Lincoln Ave., is offering free food, games, giveaway tables and haircuts for kids. For information, call the church office at (740) 282-9795.

St. Nicholas holding pierogi sale

WEIRTON -- St. Nicholas Orthodox Church is holding its pierogi sale.

Frozen, uncooked cheese and potato pierogis are available, while supplies last.

The cost is $12 a dozen. Orders can be made by calling (304) 479-0196. Pickup will be arranged when orders are placed.
