WELLSBURG BRIDGE LANE CLOSURES
WELLSBURG -- Intermittent lane closures will begin Monday on the Wellsburg Bridge for bridge maintenance.
County Route 2/23 will have intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, beginning Aug. 10 and continuing through late September.
Emergency vehicles will be accommodated. Motorists are advised to slow down and expect delays.
YSU CONTRACTS
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State University Board of Trustees has approved new three-year contracts with the university’s faculty and classified employee unions.
The board unanimously approved the agreements during a special meeting Friday. The Faculty (YSU-OEA) union ratified its contract July 17, while the Association of Classified Employees ratified its agreement Thursday.
The OEA contract includes 3% salary increases in each of the three years, while the ACE contract provides increases of 3% in the first year, 2.75% in the second year and 3% in the third year. The university also agreed to increase starting salaries for faculty and certain classified positions.
The new OEA contract takes effect Aug. 21 and runs through Aug. 20, 2029. The ACE contract takes effect Aug. 16 and runs through Aug. 15, 2029.
The board also approved a resolution extending some benefits of the ACE contract to classified employees who are not part of the bargaining unit.
FRIENDSHIP PARK DISTRICT MEETING
JEFFERSON COUNTY -- The August meeting of the Friendship Park District Board of Commissioners has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Friendship Park Board Office.
JEFFERSON COUNTY ROAD WORK
JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Several Ohio Department of Transportation construction projects are expected to affect traffic in Jefferson County in the coming weeks.
The southbound State Route 7 on-ramp from Fourth Street in Toronto remains closed as part of a slide repair project. Traffic is being detoured north on SR 7 to the SR 152 exit before returning to SR 7 southbound. Completion is expected Aug. 14.
Resurfacing is underway on SR 7 between Brilliant and Steubenville. Work in Steubenville will take place at night, while work between Steubenville and Brilliant will be conducted during the day. One lane will remain open in each direction. The project is expected to be completed by Oct. 31.
A separate slide repair project on northbound SR 7 just south of the Fourth Street exit in Toronto also is underway, with one lane maintained through the work zone. Completion is expected Oct. 31.
SR 152 will be closed during daytime hours Aug. 17-28 just south of Richmond for multiple culvert replacements. The closure will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The detour will use SR 646 east to SR 43 north and back to SR 152. School buses and emergency vehicles will be accommodated.
SR 213 is closed for a project to realign a portion of the highway south of County Road 56. The closure began June 1. Traffic currently is being maintained with temporary signals. The detour uses SR 7 north to SR 152 west and back to SR 213.
A chip-sealing project also is underway on SR 164 from Bergholz through Carroll County to Salineville. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers, with completion expected Sept. 30.
In Brooke County, West Virginia, right lanes on portions of eastbound and westbound U.S. 22 between County Route 1 (Harmon Creek) and the Veterans Memorial Bridge are closed for concrete replacement and bridge cable work. The project is expected to continue through the fall.
