Spartan Car Show coming

Contributed FILL 'ER UP — The 1956 Ford Ranch Wagon owned by Mark Pesta Jr. will be part of the Spartan Car Show set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Smithfield Stadium. The Smithfield Historical Society is sponsoring the event. Frank Kovach, co-chair, is standing next to the gas pump he restored, which shows a price of 39 cents per gallon.

SMITHFIELD -- Nostalgia, cars, food and oldies will be on tap for the second Spartan Car Show at Smithfield Stadium, 69 Stadium Road, Smithfield.

The show will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and is sponsored by the Smithfield Historical Society.

Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 cars, and door prizes and awards will be presented. DJ Spikeman will add the oldies and food will be available.

Marianne Duda, president of the historical society, stated the event will be part of America’s 250th Birthday Celebration and invites everyone out for an enjoyable evening.

Co-chairmen for the show are Frank and Linda Kovach, who pointed out the support from sponsors has been wonderful. They said the historical society members work very hard to provide community events throughout the year.

Rain date for the event is July 15.
