Amsterdam flea market set
AMSTERDAM -- The Together We Fight Flea Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8 at Rogers Park on Shannon Street.
Organizers said the event will happen rain or shine, and admission will be free.
There are still openings for vendors, and booths cost $20.
Donations of sports gear, drinks and snacks are welcome, organizers added, and volunteers are needed.
There will be drawings, games and food trucks available.

Salvation Army plans coat registration
STEUBENVILLE -- The Salvation Army Steubenville Service Unit will conduct registration for its winter coat program from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Aug. 7 First Fridays on Fourth Street.
Applicants will need to bring a photo ID, birth certificates of the minors and proof of residency.
Children will receive free goodie bags and treats.

Sycamore, Aim plan back-to-school event
STEUBENVILLE -- The Sycamore Center and the Aim Women’s Center will present a back-to-school block party from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at the corner of North and Fifth streets.
Free hot dogs and hamburgers will be available while supplies last. There will be outdoor games, and attendees will be able to meet with local nonprofit agencies.
The Steubenville High School marching band will perform at 3 p.m. Performance also have been scheduled from Evan Conn, Lydia Battistel, Lynzee Ensell, Dalana Bove, Elisha Fletcher, the Next Level Community Choir and the Might Disciples Mime Team.
It’s free and open to children of all ages.
Four Seasons seniors meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Four Seasons Senior Club met July 15 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner.
President Gene Viola called the meeting to order, and Mary Alice Myers gave the opening prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of “God Bless America.”
Bernie Degallo was introduced as a guest of Bucky Sims, and Norma Eltringham was welcomed as a new member.
Bingo winners included Faye Jones, Myers, Valerie Rowland, Kim Stempien, Degallo and Ann Iachini.
Frank Cole handled the sign-in book, and Myers was the winner of the 50-50. Terry Ramsey, Cole, Cheryl Thompson and Lee Lewis were door prize winners.
Valerie and Mike Rowland were recognized for celebrating an anniversary. Jones offered the secretary’s report, and Valerie Rowland presented the treasurer’s report. Nancy Ramsey motioned to close the meeting, which was seconded by Jack Billham. Myers gave the closing prayer.
The next meeting will be held Aug. 19 at Undo’s in Weirton.
Chester-Newell Sportsmen Club to hold monthly meeting
GEORGETOWN, Pa. -- The Chester-Newell Sportsmen Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Individuals interested in becoming members must submit an application and attend the next monthly meeting after their application has been approved.
Women on Target class scheduled Aug. 8
GEORGETOWN, Pa. -- The Chester-Newell Sportsmen Club will host a Women on Target firearm safety class on Saturday, Aug. 8.
The women-only class, taught by an NRA-certified instructor, will provide firearm safety instruction and an opportunity for participants to shoot various types of handguns.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the class starting at 9 a.m. The $45 fee includes ammunition, lunch, a T-shirt and a tote bag.

Ohio River Catfish Tournament planned Aug. 15
CHESTER -- The next Ohio River Catfish Tournament will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.
Cash prizes will be awarded for first- and second-place finishes. Registration is available at Chaney’s Sunoco in Chester. All fish must be measured at the Chester City Park Marina.
Anglers who registered for July’s tournament, which was canceled, may apply their previous entry fee to the Aug. 15 tournament or request a refund. Entry is $10 per fisherman for all new registrations.

WorkForce West Virginia to host statewide virtual job fair
CHARLESTON -- WorkForce West Virginia will host its next statewide virtual job fair from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The free online event is open to employers and job seekers statewide.
“We invite you to unlock your potential at WorkForce West Virginia’s Statewide Virtual Job Fairs,” Acting Commissioner Scott Adkins said. “Employers and job seekers are encouraged to seize this opportunity to connect and grow together.”
According to WorkForce West Virginia, the virtual job fairs have attracted 40,010 registered job seekers, 5,535 registered employers and featured 17,999 job openings since launching three years ago. The July 2026 event included 941 registered job seekers, 110 employers and 942 available job openings.
Registration is required for both employers and job seekers. Job seekers are encouraged to dress professionally and have a clean, distraction-free background during the event.
