Greenbrier Road closed for maintenance

WEIRTON -- A portion of Greenbrier Road, from Campbells Lane to Sandy Lane, will be temporarily closed today for road maintenance.

Crews with Weirton Public Works have scheduled the closure from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly.

Cross Creek Township sets meeting

WINTERSVILLE -- Cross Creek Township will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Township Meeting Room, 1267 Cadiz Road.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the salt contract.

Lincoln Boulevard work set

STEUBENVILLE -- A portion of Lincoln Boulevard will be reduced to one lane of traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, the city’s engineering department has announced.

The affected area will be between Arden and Lincoln avenues.

This closure is necessary to perform tree removal work. Motorists are advised to allow extra time to reach their destination.

Crafters sought for peach festival

WEIRTON -- St. Thomas Episcopal Church, on Three Springs Drive, is seeking craft vendors for its annual Peach Festival, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 15.

SR 9 north of Cadiz to close for culvert replacement

CADIZ -- State Route 9 north of Cadiz will be closed July 13-17 for a culvert replacement project, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The closure will be between Camp Road and Hanover Ridge Road.

Traffic will be detoured via state Route 151 east to U.S. 22 west, then back to state Route 9. The same detour will be used in reverse.

Lincoln Boulevard reduced to one lane for tree removal

STEUBENVILLE -- Lincoln Boulevard will be reduced to one lane of traffic between Arden Avenue and Lincoln Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 15-17 for tree removal work.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time to reach their destinations and use caution while traveling through the area.

Library hosts adult programs, children's activities

The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will host several programs for adults and children throughout July and August.

The Main Library will host a tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John featuring pianist and vocalist Jay Daniels at 6 p.m. July 29. Seating is first-come, first-served. The Books & Brew Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 26. Call the library for information about the monthly selection.

The Adena and Dillonvale branches will offer Grab-and-Go craft bags beginning Aug. 1 while supplies last.

The Brilliant Branch Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. July 27 to discuss “Here’s to Us” by Elin Hilderbrand. The branch also will host a Puffer Fish Painting activity for children at 3 p.m. Aug. 1. Registration is required.

The Dillonvale Branch Thriller Book Club will discuss “The Hunting Wives” by May Cobb at 10 a.m. July 28.

The Schiappa Branch Book Club will discuss “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury at 6 p.m. July 28.

The Tiltonsville Branch Thriller Book Club will discuss “Shelter in Place” by Nora Roberts. Registration is required. The branch also will host a Puffer Fish Painting activity for children at noon Aug. 1.

Brooke County Library offers adult craft class

WELLSBURG-- The Brooke County Library will host an adult craft class at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. July 23.

Participants will create a DIY paper hydrangea. Attendees should bring a glue gun and scissors; all other materials will be provided.

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Library will host Cupcake Wars for children ages 8 and older at 11 a.m. July 21.

Participants will work in teams to design and decorate cupcakes as part of a cupcake decorating competition.

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library Book Club will meet at 5 p.m. July 30 in person and virtually to discuss “This Time Next Year” by Sophie Cousens.

The book club is free and open to the public. Participants will receive the August selection at the meeting.
