JVS juniors to receive welcome packets
BLOOMINGDALE -- Incoming juniors at Jefferson County Joint Vocational School will receive welcome packets containing information about their selected programs, required tools and supplies, lab fees and potential credits they can earn over the next two years, according to Supervisor/Principal Heather Hoover.
The JVS offers 18 programs, including animal science management, auto collision, auto service technology, carpentry, computer networking, cosmetology, criminal justice, culinary arts, early childhood education, electrical trades, health technologies, heavy equipment operation, multimedia and design, power mechanics, Transition to Work, welding, HVACR and Firefighter/EMT.
About 231 juniors and 198 seniors are expected this year. Hoover said students also should receive information about creating their FinalForms accounts and completing required forms.
Junior orientation is scheduled for Aug. 25, with a parent meeting at 4:30 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to visit labs, pick up schedules and school-issued Chromebooks, pay fees and bring tools and supplies for the school year. Classes begin Aug. 26 for juniors and Aug. 27 for seniors.
Weir High Class of 1967 to meet
WEIRTON -- The Weir High School Class of 1967 will hold its monthly luncheon at Route 22 Sports Bar and Restaurant, 307 Three Springs Drive at 11:30 a.m. on July 15.
All classmates and spouses are welcome.
