Fire district budget meeting set
WINTERSVILLE -- A public hearing on the 2027 Seven Reanges Joint Fire District will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be held at the 911 Center, 300 Airport Road, Wintersville. The regular board meeting will follow.
WVNCC announces lists for spring semester
WHEELING -- West Virginia Northern Community College has announced the following students have achieved academic honors for the spring semester.

Muskingum University names president’s list
NEW CONCORD -- The following students have been named to the spring 2026 president’s list at Muskingum University.
To be named to the president’s list, students must earn a term GPA of 3.9 or above on a minimum load of 12 completed semester hours of A-F graded coursework.
The list of area students includes: Cadiz -- Holly McMahon; Scio -- Jacob Whitmore; Wintersville -- Javin Harper.
Polkafest returns to Barton
BARTON -- The 32nd-annual Barton Polkafest will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Firemen’s Field, 52176 Barton-Blaine Road.
The event will feature non-stop music from noon to 8 p.m. with Polka Family, Eddie Biegaj and Crusade and Dynaversasticktoneaires.
Admission is free. BBQ chicken, polish foods and desserts, polish crafts, a cash bar, drawings, a $1,000 drawing, Chinese auction, wine slushies and Ice Cream Island will have items for purchase.
Free shuttles will provide service from the parking lots. No BYOB or coolers will be permitted.
