Langrehr chosen to lead West Virginia Northern Community College
Dr. Andrew Langrehr
WHEELING — West Virginia Northern Community College has selected Dr. Andrew Langrehr as its ninth president following a national search.
Langrehr, currently vice chancellor for academic affairs at St. Louis Community College, will assume the position in August after the retirement of current President Dr. Daniel Mosser.
The recommendation was made by a presidential search committee composed of Board of Governors members, foundation board members, faculty, staff, students, alumni and community representatives. The selection was unanimously approved by the college’s Board of Governors and later approved by the West Virginia Community and Technical College System.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Langrehr to West Virginia Northern Community College,” Board of Governors Chairman Jacob Altmeyer said. “His extensive experience in academic leadership, strategic planning, student success initiatives and community partnerships makes him an outstanding choice to lead Northern into its next chapter.”
Langrehr has served in multiple leadership roles during his 24 years at St. Louis Community College, including vice president for academic affairs, academic dean and department chair. He holds a doctorate in education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Iowa and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Central College.
“I am excited to join the team at WVNCC and contribute to the great work already underway across this remarkable college community,” Langrehr said. “I look forward to building on Northern’s strong foundation as a regional workforce developer with a student-centered approach.”
Mosser, who has served as president since 2019 and is retiring after a 41-year career in higher education, will remain through the summer to assist with the transition.
Founded in 1972, West Virginia Northern Community College operates campuses in Wheeling, Weirton and New Martinsville.
