Coming down

Craig Howell

Crews have been active, in recent weeks, on the demolition of the former American Legion Post 45 building in Follansbee. The building, located at 998 Main St., was condemned last year after an archway, that was part of its facade, collapsed into its roof, crashing through the second floor and into the first floor. The demolition was funded with assistance of a grant from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection. Dr. Michael Pipo donated the use of his former office, upon his retirement, to the American Legion, with members hoping to eventually have a new building constructed.
