America 250-Ohio highlights Route 250 bicycle adventure

COLUMBUS — America 250-Ohio is highlighting a Route 250 bicycle adventure as part of its June 2026 “Ohio Outdoors: Exploring Ohio’s Natural Resources” theme, which features statewide events focused on outdoor recreation and Ohio’s natural assets.

The month’s programming encourages residents to explore Ohio’s parks, trails, waterways and outdoor spaces as part of the America 250-Ohio initiative marking the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

“Ohio’s natural resources are one of our greatest assets, offering opportunities for recreation, education, conservation and connection in every corner of the state,” said Todd Kleismit, executive director of America 250-Ohio. “When people explore Ohio’s parks, trails, waterways and wildlife areas, they not only support their own physical and mental well-being but also develop a deeper appreciation for protecting these spaces for future generations.”

A key event this month is the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure along Route 250, scheduled for June 20-27. The multi-day ride will travel through north-central Ohio along the scenic Route 250 corridor as part of the state’s outdoor celebration.

Additional June events tied to the “Ohio Outdoors” theme include festivals, paddling trips, fishing activities and community celebrations across the state.

Eat’n Park to give away free cookies

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Eat’n Park will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its Smiley Cookie with a free cookie giveaway Friday at all restaurant locations with the purchase of a meal.

Guests dining in or using the pickup window will receive one free Smiley Cookie per purchase as part of the promotion honoring one of the restaurant’s most recognizable menu items.

The Smiley Cookie was inspired by a childhood treat enjoyed by former Eat’n Park chairman Jim Broadhurst, who bought a round sugar cookie with a green smiling face on his way home from school in Titusville, Pa. The idea evolved into the Smiley Cookie in 1986, becoming a signature symbol of the brand.
