STEUBENVILLE POLICE

Overstocked: Employees at Walmart alleged a woman fulfilling a Spark shopping order added $201 in merchandise the customer had not ordered Wednesday and attempted to leave the store without paying for it herself.

Victim fearful: Callers reported a man hitting a female on Franklin at N. Webster Avenue Thursday. The victim said she had been out with friends and was walking home when the male allegedly “told her she was going home with him and then struck her in the back of her head.” She had no visible injuries but told police she didn’t want him going to jail “because it was going to be worse for her when he got out.” Police said she was “visibly scared… crying and having trouble breathing.”

Theft: An employee at The College of St. Joseph the Worker reported tools valued at several thousand dollars were stolen overnight from a Clinton Street property.

Fraud victim: A Market Street resident reported she had lost her debit and Cash App cards Wednesday and afterward discovered someone found them and transferred nearly $1,039 from her account to Cash App.

Don’t hit send: A city resident told police nude photos he had sent to his romantic interest about eight months ago were leaked on Grindr Tuesday.

Supervision needed: A juvenile was tasked with supervising several other juveniles at her home in the 400 block of S. Sixth Street Wednesday, and a caller told police one of them threw something at her door and then “a large group began knocking on her door.” Police said her property was not damaged but her back porch was soaked. They had the parents return home and informed them that, going forward, “one parent had to be at home with the juveniles so issues would stop.”

Recurring issues: A man in the 100 block of N. Fourth Street complained that he had walked to Historic Fort Steuben to visit a friend Wednesday and a female accused him of following her. He said she was “just trying to cause a scene.” The female told police the man was the one causing a problem.

Smoked out: Juveniles were letting smoke bombs off in Pico Park Wednesday. Police found the kids and reported they had admitted having them but “didn’t have any more and were done lighting them.”

Booked: Samuel A. Pagley, 55, 2306 Alexander Manor West, Steubenville, operating a vehicle under the influence. Pagley also was cited for failure to control after he allegedly crashed his car into two parked cars in the 1600 block of Oregon Avenue Tuesday; Julius Crowder, 23, 1130 Lincoln Ave., Apt. C, Steubenville, domestic violence; Cayden Putorek, 18, 811 Market St., Apt. H, Steubenville, felony theft at Circle K, Lincoln Avenue; Hannah M. Lipinski, 25, 216 Grant St., Mingo Junction, misdemeanor theft.

Code violations: Notices of violations were sent to owners or occupants of properties at Woodlawn Rd., 715 Woodlawn Rd., 722 Woodlawn Rd., 1616 Ridge Rd., 655 Broadway Blvd. and 2616 Hollywood Blvd., all high grass. Also, 1407 Oregon Ave., garbage, junk and litter in yard and on side of property; 1419 W. Adams St., bagged trash on back porch.

JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF

Feeling superior: A Wintersville woman who deputies said appeared to be intoxicated said her boyfriend “had too much to drink and will not shut up” Thursday. She said it never became physical and he never threatened her but she “just wanted him to leave her alone for the rest of the night.” The boyfriend was also intoxicated but agreed there was no altercation, though he claimed “she was the one who drank too much and got mad at (him) because (he) was smarter than her.” He said he would leave her alone for the rest of the night.

Boiling over: A man in Richmond reported being assaulted by his son Tuesday and said he needed medical attention because he was bleeding from his head. He said he was knocked out. His son said his father is “a drunk… and wouldn’t stop running his mouth.” He said his father became convinced “someone stole his Slim Jims” and began screaming at him. He said his father tried to wrap his hands around his neck to choke him, so he punched him in self-defense and his father “went to the ground,” so he walked away. His mother confirmed his account. Deputies said the man smelled strongly of alcohol and complained his son attacked him. He told deputies his “stuff” was missing, but when they asked, he got agitated and could not tell them anything.
