Indian Creek High School to host theater camp

Contributed CAMP PLANNED — Camp director Robert Zinsmeister leads participants during last year's Indian Ceek High School theater camp. Its second-annual theater camp will be held from July 6-10 for local kids ages 8-14. It will conclude with a performance for friends, family and community members on July 10. The cost is $45 per student. Information and registration are available by emailing ichstheatre@icsld.org.

WINTERSVILLE — The curtains will rise again for the 2026 ICHS Theater Camp at Indian Creek High School, where local children can hone their acting chops on stage.

The second annual event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6-10 in the school auditorium and conclude with a live performance for friends, family and the community at 6 p.m. July 10 to spotlight the youths’ hard work. The cost is $45 per student, and campers will receive a T-shirt, plus breakfast and lunch each day. Organizer Robert Zinsmeister, ICHS performing arts instructor, said it is open to children ages 8-14 as a fun, creative way to spend summer break.

“The students will learn acting and stage skills, build confidence and teamwork, make new friends, rehearse and perform in a live showcase, and experience the magic of theater,” Zinsmeister said.

He will be assisted by a group of dedicated adults and members of the ICHS performing arts pathway, who will serve as coaches and mentors, while performing arts students from local high schools also have been invited to help. About 45 children participated last year, and Zinsmeister noted the camp has been accomplishing what he set out to do: inspire youth to perform. In fact, several participants appeared in the school’s recent production of Mamma Mia!.

“We started the camp to reach out to the younger students in our community that have an interest in the performing arts. Our program is growing stronger every year, and offering younger students the opportunity to be a part of what we do will only continue to strengthen us into the future,” he added.

Space is limited, and early registration is recommended. For more information or to register for the theater camp, contact Zinsmeister at ichstheatre@iclsd.org.
