Fidelis Gamma Kappa installs officers

Contributed NEW OFFICERS — New officers were installed when Fidelis Gamma Kappa held its May meeting. WEIRTON — The West Virginia Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Women Educators Organization met May 7 at Eat’n Park with 15 members and one guest attending.

Tables were decorated with flowers, gnomes and candy treats, and each member received a flower.

President Susan Cullinan welcomed members and introduced Ginger Greene, the state international board member.

Chaplain Elaine McClung led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and shared a reading titled “Noticing.” She also gave the blessing for the meal.

Secretary Ruth Fuller read the May minutes, which were approved.

Eileen Snyder reported there was no correspondence, and there were no reports for bylaws or Alpha Delta Kappa Month.

Treasurer Carolyn Allison presented the financial report.

Altruistic Chairman Patty Ferris delivered donated coloring books, crayons and colored pencils to WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center for use in the pediatric unit. She also circulated a form for members to record volunteer hours and monetary and nonmonetary donations.

Under courtesy, Cullinan recognized Fuller and Allison.

Scholarship Chairmen Liz Pugh and Sandi Anderson reviewed scholarship applications and selected Ava Gatten as the recipient.

Greene installed officers for the 2026-28 biennium. They are co-presidents Carolyn Allison and Ruth Fuller; Vice President Donna Durkin; Chaplain Elaine McClung; Recording Secretary Patty Ferris; Treasurer Susan Cullinan; and Corresponding Secretary Eileen Snyder.

Beginning June 1, links to external websites for states no longer will be supported on the Alpha Delta Kappa website. States may begin transferring member information from those sites to their state community on CONNECT. Greene will oversee the program.

For the June meeting, the chapter will celebrate member birthdays. Members were asked to bring an envelope with their name on it and include 10 cents for each year as a chapter fundraiser.

Fuller circulated the roster for members to update their personal information.

Allison circulated the hostess sheet.

Cullinan also gave a report on the state convention at Pipestem Resort State Park.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Cullinan presented frosted votives to members in appreciation of their support during her term.

Hostesses for the luncheon were Bonnie Queses, Nancy Conley and Donna Roman.

Hostesses for the June meeting will be Allison, Fuller and Snyder.

The meeting adjourned with the singing of the “Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.”
