Steubenville Police

Seeing things: A caller reported an unresponsive individual in a restroom at the Fort Steuben Mall Thursday. Steubenville EMS told police when they arrived the “unresponsive person” was a garbage bag placed over an out-of-order toilet and there was no medical emergency.

Riding on sidewalk: A child riding an electric dirt bike on the sidewalk in the 2100 block of Sunset Boulevard was pinned under an SUV Friday. Police said the motorist told them she was pulling out of the McDonald’s lot onto Sunset and saw one child riding by and as she proceeded to pull out didn’t see the second child riding on the sidewalk. The child was taken to Trinity West. No further information is available.

Misbehaving: A motorist told police juveniles riding motor bikes were “intentionally blocking her in and circling her vehicle” Friday.

Tall tale: A juvenile told police she was kicked out of her home on Johnson Road Saturday. Police said the child’s mother advised she told the child to go to its room as punishment “and the juvenile ran from the house.”

Bumps in the night: A couple in the 400 block of S. 5th Street said a neighbor started an argument because one of their grandkids rolled over in bed and bumped a wall between their two apartments Friday. The neighbor complained their “banging on the walls” has been an ongoing issue and is keeping him awake at night and believes the couple needs to “control their children.” He said he confronted the caller’s husband and an argument ensued and claimed the other man told him to “do something about it” if he was unhappy. The caller’s husband said he was putting the kids in the car when the neighbor “came out yelling…(and) got in his face,” backing him upward the vehicle. Both men agreed it never became physical.

Kicking back: A caller reported seeing “an intoxicated male walking a bicycle and stumbling” Saturday in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue. Police said the man was sitting next to an open container of alcohol and told them he’d just left work and decided to have a drink. The drink was dumped.

Noisy: Tweed Avenue residents were playing their radio so loudly police said they could hear it down the block Friday. Police advised them of the complaint and they turned it down.

Prohibited: Police spotted two men in a dumpster in the 100 block of N. 5th Street Sunday. The two were told dumpster diving is not permitted in Steubenville and they left the area.

Reported: A caller reported hearing what sounded like shots fired Sunday. Police said the individual told them someone had been letting off fireworks toward Whilshire but the noise seemed to emanate from the 2400 block of Cleveland. Police report all was in order when they checked the area.

An Oregon Avenue resident was issued a drug treatment form after police were called to her residence Friday for an alleged overdose. Police said after the woman was revived with Narcan she told them she didn’t know what happened and denied using any drugs.

Charged: Russell Bennett, 45, 131 Church St., Weirton, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia; Cassidy Delong-Ruckman, 28, 103 Eleanor St., possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Booked: Donald Hayes, 57, 1325 Sinclair Ave., Steubenville, fugitive from justice warrant (Allegheny County Sheriff), Saturday; Oceana Agresta, 28, 111 Floyd St., Wintersville, bench warrant (Belmont County), Saturday.

Dumb move: An employee at a Smithfield business told police a male had tried to leave the store Thursday with two cans of Four Locos he didn’t pay for. Deputies said the male admitted concealing one can in his jacket and the other in his waistband “due to…being under age and stupid.”

No juice: A caller reported being “somewhere in Adena” with an e-bike that ran out of juice on the way to Lorain Thursday. The caller was told deputies couldn’t drive him there and suggested he charge his vehicle at a business in town.

Why wait: A bystander asked deputies to check on a small child May 10 at Jefferson Lake State Park accompanied by a woman and two men. The caller said a man in a red hoodie had been “yelling obscenities continuously” at the child for nearly an hour.

Neighborhood wars: A Richmond resident complained a neighbor was “dumping grass and bricks” on her property line March 11.
