Public hearing on plan set
STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville Planning and Zoning Commission will hold the last of three public hearings on the city’s FY 2026 One-Year Action Plan at 7 p.m. June 15.
The hearing will be held in City Council chambers, 123 S. Third Street.
The plan is intended to develop a unified and strategic vision for providing decent housing, providing a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income households.
The plan is a comprehensive strategy to allocate funds for the Community Development Block Grant and three other formula grant programs — Emergency Shelter Grant, HOME Investment Partnership and Housing Opportunity for Persons with Aids. The city, however, is only eligible for CDBG program funds.
The public hearings are required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for funding eligibility under those programs and will be used by federal and state agencies to determine need in other programs.
The consolidated plan is carried out through annual action plans, which provide a summary of the actions, activities and the specific federal and non-federal resources that will be used each year to address the priority needs and specific goals identified by the consolidated plan. The city will receive a consolidated formula allocation in the amount of $579,947 from HUD for the CDBG Program.
Citizens, representatives of community groups and nonprofit organizations and public service providers are encouraged to attend the public hearing to learn about the consolidated planning process and express their views and comments regarding the city’s needs and program activities.
For information, contact the Community Development Division at (740) 283-6000, extension 1700, or cdp@cityofsteubenville.us for further assistance.
