Lunch and Play planned at library

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will host Lunch & Play from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 3.

Children 18 and younger can receive a free lunch and play in the children’s room. Parents and guardians must provide direct supervision.

All ages are welcome and no registration is required. The event will include books, toys, games and opportunities for families to socialize.

Library screenings planned in Wellsburg

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will host two film screenings in early June in the Vincent Room.

“Hannah Arendt: Facing Tyranny” will be shown at noon June 2. Presented by Good Docs in honor of Immigrant Heritage Month and World Refugee Day, the documentary examines the life and work of political thinker Hannah Arendt, including her experiences fleeing Germany as a Jewish refugee during the rise of Adolf Hitler.

The library also will show Dinosaur13, rated PG, at noon June 5. The film follows a paleontologist whose life changes after discovering the most well-preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil in history.

Popcorn and water will be provided for both events. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch for the June 5 screening.
