Election board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The April meeting of the Jefferson County Board of Elections will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m.  in the Tower building, 500 Market St.

Soup, sandwich sale set

WELLSBURG — The Altar and Rosary Society of St John Evangelist Church, 1300 Charles St., will hold a soup and sandwich sale from 11 a.m. until sold out Wednesday.

Dine in and takeout available and orders may be called in, after 11 a.m., to (304) 737 8051.

Wednesday’s menu will include: Ham and bean with cornbread, chicken noodle, stuffed pepper and zuppa Toscana soups. Chicken salad croissants, egg salad, Italian roast beef and Italian hoagies will be available, as will an assortment of desserts.

Society members plan to purchase tabernacle veils and an ice machine for the kitchen.

Vernon headlines special event

MINGO JUNCTION — Brent Vernon, a ventriloquist, musician and storyteller, will headline a special community outreach event at 6 p.m. April 24 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 650 McLister Ave.

Vernon will entertain and inspire audiences of all ages with a mix of music and family-friendly comedy, joined on stage by his popular puppet, Sam.

Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with laughter, memorable songs and uplifting entertainment, officials with the church said.

Harry “Pee Wee” Freiling and Evan Conn will provide music.

This event is free to attend, and a freewill love offering will be collected. Everyone is welcome to be a part of this special evening of entertainment and fellowship.

Spaghetti dinner helps scholarship

UNIONPORT — A spaghetti dinner to raise money for the Dennis Neely Scholarship will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 25 at Unionport Masonic Lodge 333, 3451 county Road 39.

The cost is by donation, and the menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, ice cream and cake.

Takeout will be available.

Wintersville Women’s Club observed DD Awareness Month

WINTERSVILLE — The Wintersville Women’s Club continues to demonstrate its deep commitment to the community through acts of kindness and service. In celebration of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in March, members of the club recently visited the School of Bright Promise for a special Easter-themed activity with students.

The visit was filled with smiles, laughter, and creativity as students decorated Easter egg cookies donated by the Wintersville Women’s Club. The hands-on activity provided not only a fun and festive experience, but also an opportunity for meaningful interaction and connection.

The School of Bright Promise serves individuals with developmental disabilities, offering programs that focus on growth, independence, and community engagement. Events like this highlight the importance of inclusion and the value of building relationships across the community.

Members of the Wintersville Women’s Club shared that giving back is at the heart of their mission, and opportunities like this are what make their work so rewarding.

STEUBENVILLE — The 2026 Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority will hold its regular board meeting at 4:30 p.m. April 16 at the Robert J. Cutri, Modal Center in Steubenville.

Jefferson County Prevention and Recovery Board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — A public meeting of the Jefferson County Prevention and Recovery Board will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 20 at the board office, 524 Madison Ave., Steubenville. For additional information, call 740-282-1300.
