Dinner helps Eagle Scout effort
WINTERSVILLE — A local Scout is looking for funding help with her Eagle Scout project.
Riley Heldreth, a member of Troop 22, is building a prayer grotto at Blessed Sacrament Church in Wintersville for her project.
To help with the estimated cost of $10,000 the grotto, a spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from noon to 5 p.m. March 29 at the church, which is located at 852 Frank P. Layman Blvd. Dine-in and carry-out options will be available, and the cost is by donation. All proceeds will support the project, organizers explained.

American Legion sets fish fry
WEIRTON — American Legion Post 10 will hold a fish fry from 4 pm. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Open to the public, the menu will feature Coleman’s fish. Sandwiches and dinners will be available as well as cod nuggets, crab cakes, shrimp, clams, french fries, egg rolls and zucchini fries.
Soup, sandwich sale set
WEIRTON — American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary will hold a soup and sandwich sale from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. The menu will include roast beef sandwiches, tuna salad and egg salad sandwiches, chicken noodle soup, bean soup, beef chili, white chicken chili, stuffed pepper soup and desserts. It’s open to the public and is eat in or take out.
Veterans commission to meet
STEUBENVILLE — The regular monthly meeting of the Veterans Service Commission of Jefferson County will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be held at 500 Market St., Suite 310, and is open to all veterans and interested partes.
Club to hold Easter Bunny breakfast
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Sportsman Club, at 2540 McAdoo Ridge Road, will hold a breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 9 a.m. to noon March 21. The cost is $5 for the breakfast, which will include a photo with the Easter Bunny and gift bag. Reservations should be made through the club’s Facebook page.
Baby safety shower set
WELLSBURG — Prevent Child Abuse West Virginia and the Brooke County Partners in Prevention Team will hold a baby safety shower, with free baby resource bags and items to be distributed to new or expectant mothers, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 20 at the Brooke County Public Library. Reservations should be made by calling or texting 304- 737-4444 by May 1 and will be answered with a confirmation text.
Group seeks volunteers
TORONTO — The volunteer members of the Toronto Beautification Committee are seeking others to aid them in making public areas of the city attractive.
The group plants flowers and applies holiday decorations at the city’s entrances on Franklin and Alexander streets, the Gazebo Commons on North Third Street, and other areas. It also raises funds for the maintenance and replacement of the U.S. flags flown above North Fourth Street and other areas.
