STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville City School District has set its registration dates for those who will be entering preschool or kindergarten in the upcoming school year.

Early registration begins Feb. 23-27. Opportunities will be available to sign up online as well. A link will go live Feb. 23 informing parents of the information that can be uploaded by computer, iPad or smartphone. Those without access can receive help at the respective school buildings.

“This year, we’re switching to an online format and there’s no more traditional paper format,” said Tommy Kotsanis, principal at Wells Academy and district director of preschool programs. “We’re providing a link through FinalForms and a QR code will be posted on our Facebook pages, billboards and website. If people don’t have access to a computer, they can still come to the school and complete it on a laptop provided in the office.”

East Garfield Elementary School, McKinley STEM Academy, Pugliese West Elementary School and Wells Academy will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for assistance. Online access is available at any time. Kotsanis said it is the first year for the new registration format with the intent to make the process easier.

Kotsanis added parents and guardians should take advantage while they can.

“We encourage them to sign up as soon as possible because seats fill up fast,” he explained.

Steubenville City Schools offer a comprehensive preschool program designed to foster the development of preschoolers and kindergarteners. The program includes a variety of activities that engage children in learning through play, storytelling and exploration.

Preschoolers participate in the Success for All program to help expand their vocabulary and build essential skills in math, science, art, music and interpersonal skills.

Free screenings are provided at the district buildings as part of the Child Find program, ensuring all children receive the necessary support and attention. Schools are rated through the Stand Up to Quality program.

Information is available by contacting East Garfield at (740) 282-5112, McKinley STEM Academy at (740) 282-7070, Pugliese West at (740) 264-1590, Wells Academy at (740) 282-1651 or the Steubenville City School board office at (740) 283-3767. Information can be found online as well at rollred.net.
