Library announces activities
STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is inviting parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 4 participate in the upcoming Sweet Reads and Treats event, set for 10 a.m. on March 10 at the Dairy Queen in Rayland.
Activities for the morning will include listening to an engaging story and receiving a coupon for a free kids’ meal with the purchase of an adult combo meal.
Registration is not required, officials noted, although it is encouraged in order to obtain an approximate county. Call the Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Library at (740) 314-4280.
Additional activities and events planned at area library branches during the week of March 8-14 include:

Adults: The Mystery Book Club will meet at 11 a.m. March 9 to read and discuss the book “The Paris Apartment,” by Lucy Foley. Register to attend.
Children: Tot Time will be held for parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 4 at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, including March 10, March 17 and March 24; at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, including March 11, March 18 and March 25; and at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays, including March 12, March 19 and March 26.
Teens: A grab-and-go Bookmark bag will be ready for pickup on March 9. Teens ages 12 to 18 will receive a bag containing fun colors, patterns and decorations to keep their mark in style.

Adults: Watch an Ohio Goes to the Movies film at 1 p.m. on March 12 and meet actor Peter Lawson Jones who plays Reuben, the estranged friend of Tom Hanks. The movie guests will be watching is based on the book “A Man Called Ove,” by Fredrik Backman. Lawson will discuss the making of the film and sign autographs following the showing. Those who attend will receive a commemorative ticket and book bag. Register to attend.

Teens: Dungeons & Dragons is coming to the library for those ages 10-16. Participants will play the game once a month. Register to play.
Children: Bring your child, ages birth to 2, to Babygarten for songs and stories at 10:30 a.m. on March 12 and March 26.

Visit the library for Shamrocks and Shenanigans at 5:30 p.m. March 11. Professional storyteller Paul Strickland will share Irish folklore, songs and laughter in this family-friendly program. Register to attend.
Adults: This month, the library’s book club will discuss “The Party Line,” by Carolyn Brown, at 10 a.m. March 10. Call to join.

Adults: Read “No Two Persons,” by Erica Bauermeister, and then join in the conversation during book club, set to be held at 10:30 a.m. March 10. Register to attend.
Children: Parents and guardians can bring their children, ages birth to 2, to Babygarten, a lap-sit program containing stories and songs. Introduce your little ones to the library at 11 a.m. on March 9. Children ages 8 through 12 are invited to take part in activities that involve LEGO STEM at 4:30 p.m. March 12. Register to attend.
Come and locate all of the leprechaun footprints during the library’s St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt from March 9-13. Participants will receive a treat.
