Franciscan’s Center of Beauty launches series

STEUBENVILLE — The Center for Beauty at Franciscan University of Steubenville will launch its spring series of evening musical performances and talks.

All upcoming presentations are open to the public at no cost and will take place at 6 p.m. in various locations around campus.

The Baroque Birthday Bash for Bach, with music by Franciscan’s Sacred Music students will take place at 6 p.m. March 23 in the Pope St. Paul VI Event Center, Christ the Teacher Hall. Students will present music of the Baroque period in honor of J.S. Bach’s 341st birthday.

The Astralis Ensemble will perform at 6 p.m. April 13 at the Pope St. Paul VI Event Center, Christ the Teacher Hall. The evening will feature classic gems for flute, viola and harp trio.

The Chamber Music at Franciscan Concert Series will begin at 6 p.m. April 20 in the Pope St. Paul VI Event Center, Christ the Teacher Hall. Music will be presented by members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

The Center for Beauty aims to help people develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of beauty as a living truth in its ability to touch, instruct and move them to desire the transcendent.

The center seeks to support Franciscan University and its local community in the production and presentation of that which is beautiful in the areas of visual arts, music, drama and literature.
