Edison Drama Club to perform
RICHMOND — The Edison High School Drama Club will bring E.B. White’s classic tale “Charlotte’s Web” to the stage on March 20-21. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased the night of each performance. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens and free for seniors who have an Edison pass.
Drama Club Adviser David Schultz said the cast features 24 actors and 13 stage crew members. Cast members include Gianna Zimmerman as Charlotte, Leila Cable as Wilbur, Ronin Hartman as Homer Zuckerman, Michelle Davis as Fern Arable, Dominic Grim as Templeton and Madeline Granatir as the first chorus member. Senior Maiah Christy will serve as lead stage manager, with seniors Destony Grimm as assistant stage manager and Elizabeth Booher as prop master.
The story follows Wilbur, a pig being raised for the market. His friend, Charlotte the spider, weaves her web in determination to help him avoid the butcher. When words such as “Some Pig” and “Radiant” miraculously appear in webs in Wilbur’s barn, it draws public interest and keeps him alive. Fern Arable is the young girl who longs to raise Wilbur as a pet, while Homer Zuckerman is her uncle who hopes to sell him.
“This is a family-friendly show and we encourage young and old alike to come out and see what our Drama Club has to offer our community as we perform this beloved classic,” Schultz said. The production marks the club’s eighth performance since its revival in 2019-20.
