Cultural Fiesta set for Saturday

STEUBENVILLE — Come experience the cultures of the world during the Cultural Fiesta, set from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday at Leonardo’s Coffeehouse, located at 159 N. Fourth St. in Steubenville.

This event will offer salsa lessons from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., music from a professional disc jockey, photoshoots in the Cuban Caribbean, folk dance performances and social dancing.

International cuisine will be available, along with a Chinese auction and prizes, pinata bashing, Mexican hair braiding and guests encouraged to wear their country’s traditional attire.

The entrance fee will be $10 per person. Children under 10 will be admitted for $5 each. A buffet of international foods will be available for an additional $10, organizers noted. Anyone interested in displaying their country during the event or who would like to perform a dance routine, is asked to call (201) 745-9562.

All of the proceeds raised will go to helping Homeward Bound, an area nonprofit agency which helps those who are homeless.

Tai Chi being offered

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library is offering a weekly Tai Chi Class, instructed by Mike Turrentine, at 11 a.m. every Monday in the River Room.

Tai Chi is a moving meditation in the form of a series of gentle exercises that create harmony between the mind and body. This is a free, weekly hour-long class in which participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing. Registration is not required.

JVS to celebrate 50 years

BLOOMINGDALE — The Jefferson County Vocational School will celebrate its 50th anniversary from 3:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the school, located at 1509 county Highway 22A in Bloomingdale.

The community, partners and supporters of the vocational school are invited to attend. A guided tour of the facility will be given and guests will be able to explore the career and technical programs offered to juniors and seniors in Jefferson and Harrison counties.
