Alpha Tau Chapter discusses upcoming officers

WEIRTON — The Alpha Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators held its February meeting at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland. The meeting was called to order by President Fran Jones.

Chaplain Kathy Griffith gave a reading from “Walking in Grace” as the thought for the day.

Secretary Mary Lou Martindill read the minutes from the previous meeting and took roll call. Treasurer Velda Icard gave the treasurer’s report.

President-elect Michelle Lewis requested members provide volunteer information for the altruistic report. Bylaws Chairman Ginger Greene reported the updated policies and procedures manual, which was approved and submitted to the state bylaws chairman.

The nominating committee gave a report on its progress for the next biennium’s chapter officers. Immediate Past President Amy Hannahs distributed information for the West Virginia state convention, set to be held at Pipestem State Park in April.

Jones led a discussion on selecting an initiation date for new members.

The business meeting adjourned, after which members participated in a silent auction. The proceeds raised are being donated to cystic fibrosis.
