Survivor Art Show planned for March
STEUBENVILLE — Artwork for the Survivor Art Show entitled “Growth After the Storm,” is being sought by those with ALIVE and the Upper Ohio Valley Sexual Assault Help Center.
This healing-centered exhibit will honor resilience, creativity and the powerful journeys of survivors as they move toward healing and growth.
The show is open to those 18 years of age and older.
Artists are invited to submit artwork that reflects themes of healing, strength, hope and growth following trauma. To ensure the exhibit is accessible to a wide audience, all artwork must adhere to a PG-13 standard, according to officials.
The art show will be held at the Center of Music and Art in Wintersville during the week of April 13-17.
Events will be happening every evening beginning with the opening presentation, a Paint n’ Sip, a self-defense class, a denim craft for Denim Day and a Threads of Courage denim auction.
The show aligns with the shared vision and mission of ALIVE Inc. and SAHC.
“After years of sexual violence in my marriage, words failed me,” stated a local survivor. “What lived deep within could not be spoken, so I turned to color and texture. With each stroke of the brush, the pain found its way out — and in its place, healing quietly began.”
Artwork submissions are due by March 20 and can be submitted to Mary McCardel at (740) 283-3444 or Teresa Richmond at (304) 650-3125.
